A Response from Anthony Earnshaw
Both the catalogue cover and the invite card for Contrariwise had featured The Painter’s Room by Lucian Freud. Upon receiving the card, Anthony Earnshaw promptly turned it upside down, painted over the Freud, retitled it ‘Robespierre the Fish, with chips’ and returned the it to me. It’s an object I treasure and my thanks go to Gail Earnshaw for agreeing to its reproduction here.
