Andy Warhol: Screen Tests
In 2010, I contributed a paper to a symposium entitled Every Real Moment – Time in Andy Warhol’s Art, held at the University of Wales, Newport.
My paper was entitled ‘Exhibiting Warhol’s Screen Tests’ and examined how that body of films had been presented in the gallery, the cinema and on DVD.
The text reproduced here is an expanded version of that paper, written after a further viewing of the Screen Tests at MOMA, Oxford, in December 2014. It has not previously been published.
My thanks to the galleries that provided installation photographs for the paper. Also to Mark Durden and Alexander Graf for asking me to participate in the symposium and Kim Knowles who presented another, interestingly different paper on the Screen Tests.
