A visit to Brussels 1978
This short memoir was written in 2013 at the invitation of Alex Danchev, who was then researching his biography of Magritte. He had read my texts for the Tate catalogue Magritte A-Z and asked for more detail.
It was therefore very sad to read of his untimely death in 2016, leaving the biography incomplete. However, it was completed by Sarah Whitfield and published by Profile Books in 2021. It is an enthralling read and I was pleased to read a short acknowledgment of my memoir in the notes.
